I recently upgrade my emergency generator from a 9000 watt unit to a 13000 watt tri-fuel generator. This meant I need to upgrade from the 30amp connector and cable to 50amp units. These is well made and was easy to install. It is rated up to 12500 watts which is under my generators rating but that is max starting load running on gasoline. I have this generator connected to natural gas so it is rated below that and gives me plenty of leeway.

I know that this should have come with 6 awg wire, but it did not. With that said, unless you have a 9600 watt or higher generator, you will not have any problems with this unit. When you install it to the panel, you should make sure that you use a 40 amp breaker just to make sure that you don’t have a problems with drawing more continuous for long periods of time than the cord can handle. Since I’m using this with a much lower power generator, just for an easy way to get power to my refrigerator and some lights this was a good solution for me. If I get a larger generator down the road, I can always buy the right size cable.
With that said, electrical can be dangerous and it is always planned for some margin and worst case scenarios. There is good reason for this and you should make sure that you put some failsafes in for worst case situations. Also, if you’re doing this yourself, which nobody recommends, please make sure to use a interlock to make sure that you can’t have power from the the utility, and power from the generator at the same time it’s not good for your electronics and it’s not good for lineman.

Very thick and heavy duty extension. It protects from the heat, water and it says even rust. It is extremely long. Works very well with my generator.
