When the generator stops running, it automatically switches to utility power with a green light indicating that generator power is active. In addition, the transfer switch continuously monitors the status of the utility power, so that if the utility power goes out, the generator will automatically start without the need for additional wiring, providing you with great convenience.
- Dual Protection: The 50 AMP Automatic Transfer Switch is pre-wired to automatically convert the primary source of AC power from shore power to generator or inverter power upon startup. Mechanical interlocks and control circuits are protected against short circuits caused by two separate 120/240 volt AC power sources entering the AC switchboard at the same time.
- RV Transfer Switch: This automatic transfer switch is perfect for anyone who needs seamless power management for their RV or speedboat. Swapped for a unit damaged in a brown out. For better than the original it replaced. Only down vote is for the cross feed. Technically 50 amp rated, 10awg 105c cable. But then it’s in contact with the service cable which isn’t 105c.

I installed one of these to allow powering an emergency panel. I moved all the essential loads (AC, well pump, septic, refrigerators, lights) to a separate panel. The transfer switch allows me to power the emergency panel from a 12 kW generator without possibility of back-feeding to the grid. There are two relays that are mechanically interlocked. If one relay is energized, the other one is prevented from switching. My first one has been in continuous service for two years. I bought a second one to have as a spare.
