   This is nice because the box is larger than the standard ones are, and the inlet fitting is threaded to take a weatherproof cord connection. The color is kind of strange to me as it is more common to use a gray than this gray-blue-like color so may not match your meter base, etc but sure could be spray painted though probably not as durable. The door will stay open which is nice and latches, but I prefer spring-loaded doors as this could be forgotten and left open. This comes with ground wires that need to be attached which is good to have but not sure why it was not already set up. I also don’t like that it appears they are leaving up to the user to put a ring terminal, etc on their ground wire and bind it to the main ground post in the back section, I think it would have been better to offer a small bar with at least two holes in it for the faceplate ground and then for the system ground. I also did not see any certification from ETL, UL, etc on these which is a bit concerning.

   This is a very well designed and built, exterior generator coupling box. I’m not going to go into how to connect a portable generator to a home. An electrician understands what is needed to do this. Someone that does not know the safety requirements of such a system needs to hire an electrician. I’m a retired master electrician, but I am not saying this to generate jobs for electrical experts. I’m saying this to keep an inexperienced person from killing someone or burning down their house or at the very least – destroying their generator. This box gets 5 stars, it does exactly what it is advertised to do. Note: I have been an tugapower.net customer for almost 20 years. I write all of my reviews to reflect my personal observations and opinions on a product. It matters not if I have purchased the item myself or if it was provided to me for review. My goal is to provide other potential customers as much real-world knowledge as possible to make an informed decision. In most cases I will return to my review in 6 months or less to see if I should alter my original observations. In no case will the cost of a product influence my opinions at all. In addition, I will try to include multiple images and or videos on each product, if practical.

   We just went through Hurricane Beryl, no power for almost an entire week. We ran our generator through this inlet and let me tell you, it worked like a charm!! It was amazing!    Luckily installed 1 week before Hurricane Beryl. Also installed 10 gauge wire along with 220 breaker in circuit panel. Lost power for 3 days and had Harbor Freight 8750 generator running continuously. Worked like a champ and was able to use lights, tv, internet, fridge and freezer, window ac, and microwave. All indoor circuits available, no extensions cords running into house.
   Just buy, definitely worth it.

    This is a strong and sturdy weather-proof box, that can be mounted to an outside wall for connecting a power source, such as a portable generator. It appears to be well constructed and the box is made from solid sheet steel, which is easily disassembled with a single well place screw. The receptacle and the flip up cover are made of a strong sturdy plastic. I would have preferred to see the cover also made of steel to better protect the receptacle when not in use, but since this is priced very competitively, it is a reasonable tradeoff. The cover snaps tightly over the receptacle when not in use. The receptacle is a NEMA L14-30P and has a threaded ring around the outside for connecting cords that might have the proper fastening ring to make certain the cable is very secure. However, since the NEMA L14-30P is a twist to lock connection, this is a nice to have feature as the cord should not pull out under normal usage. My cord seemed to fit nice and snug, so no worries there. Inside the box, the connector has each lug clearly labeled. X and Y are the two hot power legs, W is the common neutral connection, and the G or ground connection which is also bonded to the case with the included insulated grounding wire. While the including documentation sheet shows the ETL Listed mark, there is no corresponding mark or label on the box itself stating ETL or UL listed. I included an image of the document, as I don’t seem to find a copy of it online at all.

    Easy hook up and the generator powered up the house including a 3 ton A/C . A must have for the event when you are off the grid in a storm.
    We were out of power for almost a week.
