   Overall this is a nice cable and works great to allow me to get solar from my panels to my power stations in my garage. Thick gauge. My critiques are that the MC4 connectors used feel low quality and are difficult to disconnect. Most of the other MC4s I have, have tabs on the side to help release the locking tabs to make disconnecting easier. Also the male/female connectors are backwards and don’t match up to my solar panels correctly based on the wire coloring. I had to use a multimeter to check this and confirm that they are in fact swapped. I will likely cut the connectors off and put on new MC4s so the polarity is correct.

   This solar cable extension set came with a 10 gauge 20 foot wire, with MC4 connectors pre-installed on one end. The other end does not have a connector, but a set of MC4 connectors are included for you to crimp on after cutting the wire to the desired length. The set also came with a Velcro strap for cable organization or storage. Keep in mind that you will need a MC4 crimping tool to add the included connector ends to the wire. Assuming you have a crimper, this is an excellent set. The included MC4 connector was installed easily and makes a good/solid connection. The cable has a double insulation jacket, and the wire has a “6 MM” marking (meaning 10 gauge wire). A lot of sellers offer good quality 10 gauge solar cable, but I like this specific brand for the following reasons: – These solar cable sets typically come with a red and a black cable. Having a separate fully red cable is an eyesore, but necessary so you can tell the polarity. I like that this cable is mostly black, but still has a red “stripe” to identify the positive cable side. – I have multiple solar arrays, and they all feed into the same area. This means that I have quite a few “red and black” cables. If I am not careful, I could accidently plug in a red cable from one array, and a black cable from another. With this set, the cables are joined together (but can be pulled apart as needed). Keeping the cables joined allows me to easily identify the red and black cable from a specific array. Previously, I used electrical tape to keep the two wires together, but it looked much less professional. Overall really like these cables, highly recommend!

   The joined cables are a nice extra feature that many cables manufacturers don’t include on their cables. The doubled jacketed wire is TUV certified meaning the have met testing and quality standards. The MC4 connectors polarity are switch meaning if you use them to connect from your panel to your MPPT controller your negative black wire will actually be the positive and the same for the red power cable your red is now the negative channel. The cables are a little stiff and are difficult to bend at corners.
