This well-manufactured MC4 to MC4 extension cable is ideal for solar panel applications. I measured the resistance with a Fluke ohmmeter from connector to connector, which was less than 0.01 ohms from end-to-end. The wire used is 10 AWG, and the polarity of the connectors is correct, so that the plus side of the attached solar panel will connect to the plus side of the MC4 connector at the end of the extension. That is, this is a male-to-female extension cord. The wire is marked for 90 degrees C at 300 volts. As the wire is rated for 90 degrees C, the ampacity of 10 AWG is 30 Amperes according to the National Electrical Code (NEC). This cable is ideal for use with solar panels.

I was hoping by now the seller would have updated the title/description from “10AGW” to “10AWG” as it makes it look like they don’t know what they are selling to the US market. The wire is indeed marked 10 AWG, so that was good to have confirmed when I received it. Happy with the purchase.

MC4 connections are ubiquitous these days on solar systems. And its for a good reason. These connect solidly and won’t come apart unless using the tool to get them apart. Even after using them dozens of times they are still solid connectors. They are also tightly connected to the cables, and no amount of pulling would loosen them up. After doing this they still put power from my panels to the controller.
