   These solar fans for the hen house are functional with sun powered panels that allow enough speed to produce the fans to move the air through the fans, reducing the temperature of the hen house. Extremely easy to install even comes with pre drilled holes to place. Air flows with very little noise. You do need the power of the sun to operate these.

   This fan is designed extremely well with a quality sturdy metal mesh that I feel confident will deter any critters from trying to tear through to get to my chickens. It is also the perfect size for the vent I have already in place. The fan does only work when the solar panels are in the sun (there is one panel for each fan), but for the coop I needed this for that is fine because the afternoon sun shines right into my transom window in the coop which gets really hot in the afternoon sun. The noise level is much quieter than the huge sealed motor barn fan that I run on really hot days, and it reduces the amount of power I am running in my coop to keep it cool and keep air flowing.

   The unit appears well built. It is Easy to install. Each panel controls a fan. The fan will run when the panel gets sun. The fans move a lot of air, and it would be perfect for venting a greenhouse or chicken coup. The fan is a bit louder than expected, but it is not unpleasant

   I Ordered this fan for my small chicken coop. Living in Florida, there is always sun everywhere, so the coop can get stagnant during the day and cause any chickens setting to be uncomfortable. This solar fan Only works when there is sun directly on it. In fact, any shade causes it to stop or slow to a crawl. My coop gets a few hours of sun, and then the rest of the day it’s in the shade, so essentially I only need it running for those few hours. The panels are a nice solid material that are ultra light, but definitely can take a hit from hail or a branch without getting damage. The two panels each run one fan, and have separate connections to each fans wiring. The connections are plug and play and set-up takes 30 seconds. The dual fans are of high quality with a nice metal grill to suck air in, and a covered plastic grill to keep beaks, feet, and combs out of the blades. When in direct sunlight, the fan is super quiet, but turns so fast, it’s like a radiator truck fan. It moves a lot of air when fully spinning. Whether it’s spinning super fast, or just crawling along, you can’t hear the fan at all. Definitely a quality fan with no need to worry about batteries or external electrical connections. This fan can be placed anywhere you can think of, and you will be extremely happy with the results.

   I like the idea and concept, I do share the same concerns as others about the operation when the voltage is too low. I would recommend pairing this with a cheap solar charge controller and a small SLA battery for scheduled use and proper cut off when the voltage drops.

   Firstly the fans don’t run without very nearly full sun. Secondly, when there is insufficient sun the fans make a painful, high-pitched noise (quiet, but I have sensitive hearing, as do my chickens). Third: the size is wrong: 12 by 6 inches, not 15 x 9, so about 1/3 smaller. The cost is too high for this fan.

   On the plus side installation is simple, and when there is enough sun the fans run quietly and move a notable amount of air.
