I just went through Hurricane Helene and had to use my generator for 5 days. Trying to run extension cords to the refrigerator and freezer as well as charging devices proved to be difficult at best. I was able to get this installed by an electrician friend. He also installed a 50 amp inlet box. So now I can just use 1 cord to go from my generator to the inlet, throw the transfer switch and power the circuits in my house that I need to have on. This allows me to use my regular outlets to charge devices as well as having lights on at night to make it more comfortable. If we have another storm or issue like we just went through, next time I will be more prepared. This protects My house, Generator, and most importantly the line workers doing repairs.

With recent storms and outages, I wanted to add a manual switch that could transfer power from the line to a off position to a generator.
I chose this style to be able to control when power is needed. With the automatic disconnect, it doesn’t always turn off the generator if it is a portable unit.
I have a main power breaker, so to keep in code I moved the power breaker box up and place the added transfer breaker box in its location.
I like that it has a triple position locking system with a high 200 A current rating. Most others only have two position throw and lock with a 100 A current rating. The Box is solid and should withstand all weather conditions.
Overall this switch worked perfectly for what I needed.

So up front this works great and the lever is usable not super difficult to change positions. I was expecting this thing to be 9″ x 12″ x 6″ like a mains disconnect (9x9x6) but double length. This monster is approximately 24″x24″x18″. I initially was thinking of using it in an off grid cabin. That went straight out when I saw this choncher. It is now on the main house for street vs generator backup. This is significantly larger than a us spec 200a panel it looks like I swiped something from a serious industrial application and it’s rated for 2000A and 440v which this isn’t. So it works but is massive compared to other items in the same amp volt range.

This generator transfer switch arrived intact, in new condition, and well protected inside of a generic box. The instructions are a bit rough. The English is a little broken, but the message still gets through. The device itself seem solidly built. The switch arm functions as expected. Overall, it seems to work as described.
